We use Tempt Airbrush Machines and Makeup. Some of our Artist have completed Temptu Certification.
We recommend never waxing or exfoliating the day of or the day before your event. We suggest you get your brows done at least 4 days in advance. If you’re planning on getting a facial, do so at least one week prior to. This will give your skin the time it needs to heal and recover from waxing, threading, or exfoliating.
You can if you’d like, but you definitely don’t have to! Our makeup artists can color match your foundation to the skin tone of your body. Many spray tan products do not agree with makeup, so it’s important to know beforehand that there is a risk that the spray tan will cause your foundation to appear blotchy or discolored in photos.
We recommend booking your consultation for makeup at least 2 weeks in advance. We’re happy to book it for any time you prefer, however, booking 2 weeks in advance helps us to guarantee the same artist will be available for both your consultation and your wedding day. We also recommend booking your consultation for the morning of your Bridal Shower(If you know it) or Bachelorette Party so you don’t “waste” the Make Up and get a good idea of how long it will last.
All of our Artists are certified in makeup application and that is our specialty. Because of this, we do not do hair but have plenty of recommendations for hairstylists that we work with often. In our experience, when you choose two artists that are specialized in their own craft, you will get the best result. When you have a large party getting ready, for example on your Wedding Day, you are going to be on a tight schedule and multiple stylists will be a necessity to ensure everyone gets ready on time.
Mascara has the shortest lifespan in cosmetics of about 3 to 5 months. If you can’t remember when you last brought your mascara, you need to buy a new one.
If you are only missing one or two products listed, we will provide you with a tester product to use to complete the look for the lesson. If you need to borrow 3 or more items, you will need to rent a bag from us for $5 for the lesson.
Group BYOB Make Up Lessons require at least 4 people. Less than 4 people will be considered a One on One Make Up Lesson and will be booked accordingly.
At Beauty Schooled we have a strict work/life balance philosophy and we do not work on major holidays. Please email for a list of specific Holidays we do NOT work on. For some Holidays we charge a 20% surcharge.
Yes, our Artists are experienced with all different skin types and ethnicities. All artists carry a wide range of makeup products suitable for any situation.
Our Artists do not carry one specific brand of makeup in their kits. Our Artists have tried and tested hundreds of products and choose only the very best for our clients. Our Artists carry everything from MAC, Smashbox, Beautycounter, Laura Mercier, Urban Decay, Stila, and much, much more.
We recommend finding some images of makeup for reference for your look to show your Artist before they arrive. Don’t forget to show them your Prom/Wedding dress or whatever you will be wearing, if possible, too!
This party is for all ages but is typically designed for ages 10 and up and anyone that has taken our Basic Make Up Application Lesson first or has experience putting on makeup.
You are not required to schedule a consultation with an Artist prior to your wedding day, however, we highly recommend doing so. This is your special day! We want you to be totally comfortable with your look before your wedding day. You’ll feel more confident that your Artist knows what you want and can execute your look quickly on your wedding day by having your consultation done beforehand.
Special Occasion Make Up Applications usually will take 45 minutes to an hour per service.
In short, Airbrush Make Up is defined as applying makeup to the skin through an airbrush machine that sprays foundation and color onto the skin. This is very different than the traditional way of applying makeup using brushes, sponges, and tools. Depending on the air pressure of the machine, you can achieve a lighter to heavier application. This process not only takes more time to apply, it also takes a lot more time cleaning the machine than it would with traditional brushes.
Whatever the special occasion may be, when it comes to event planning there are so many things to worry about. What your makeup will look like, who is going to do it, will it last and various other Beauty related questions should not be one of them. In addition to whatever you may decide to wear, makeup is one of the few things that will live on forever in your pictures from this important day, and it is important that a professional apply that makeup. Our highly trained Artists have experience with various skin types and skin tones and will choose the best products for your specific needs to ensure your makeup lasts all day with minimal touch ups.
A major advantage of booking with us, is the support of an extensive team of Artists. Our promise to you is that we can cover any challenges that may arise on that day.
We charge a $50 flat rate travel fee for anywhere in New Jersey. This charge doubles out of state. If paid parking is required at the destination this also needs to be included and covered for the Artist. Of course, this is always discussed and where possible included in your quote.
Yes! Once your wedding date is confirmed, we will coordinate with you and your Artist to confirm a trial date based on everyone’s availability.
